Hillside Espanol — lengua, cultura, curiosidad

What this site is

Hillside Spanish (hillsidespanish.com) is a free, non-commercial revision and resource hub built for pupils in the Modern Foreign Languages department at Hillside High School, Bootle, Merseyside. It pulls together the sentence builders, vocabulary, knowledge organisers, listening practice, model answers and games we use across Year 7, Year 8, Year 9 and GCSE Spanish into one place that pupils can access from home.

Who it's for

The site is aimed at pupils at Hillside High School and their parents or carers, but the content is open to anyone who finds it useful. All resources are intended for educational use in line with the AQA GCSE Spanish specification and our department's KS3 schemes of work.

Who built it

The site is built and maintained by Mr M. Cosgrove, a teacher in the Languages department at Hillside High School. It is an independent teacher project: it is hosted and paid for personally, not on behalf of the school or local authority, and is offered as a free resource for our pupils.

What's on it

You'll find year-group landing pages for Year 7, 8, 9 and GCSE, with topic-by-topic sentence builders, vocabulary lists, knowledge organisers and walkthrough videos for each unit. There are interactive activities — sentence-build games, listening tasks, conjugation drills, a memory match, a Tetris-style word game and the long-running La Gran Josefina mystery adventure — plus extended-writing prep pages, story flipbooks and a small Spanish-themed comics archive. New resources are added regularly through the school year.

How it's hosted

The site is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages, with large media (audio and video) served from Cloudflare R2 object storage. There is no backend server, no database, no user accounts, no sign-up, no advertising and no third-party tracking beyond Cloudflare's privacy-friendly analytics counter (see the Privacy Notice).

Get in touch

If you're a pupil, parent or fellow teacher and you've spotted a mistake, have a request, or want to use a resource elsewhere, please contact the Modern Foreign Languages department through the school: hillsidehigh.co.uk.
