Hillside Espanol — lengua, cultura, curiosidad

Short version: This site does not ask for your name, email or any personal details. There are no accounts, no cookies, no advertising and no third-party trackers. The only thing we record is an anonymous page-view counter from Cloudflare so we can see which pages are useful.

Who runs this site

Hillside Spanish (hillsidespanish.com) is built and maintained by Mr M. Cosgrove of the Modern Foreign Languages department at Hillside High School, Bootle, Merseyside. The site is offered as a free, non-commercial revision resource for our pupils.

What data this site collects

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused page-view counter. Cloudflare Web Analytics:

· does not use cookies, fingerprinting or any persistent identifier on your device;
· does not collect IP addresses, device identifiers or any personal data that could identify you;
· records only anonymous, aggregate counts of page views, the page address visited, approximate country, browser type and (for some visits) a referring website.

We use this aggregate information to understand which year groups and topics are being used most, so we can prioritise what to build next. We cannot identify any individual visitor from this data.

Cloudflare also automatically logs basic request data (such as IP address and timestamp) for a short period for security and abuse-prevention purposes. This logging is part of Cloudflare's standard infrastructure, applies to virtually every site on the internet, and is governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

What this site does NOT do

· There are no user accounts, sign-ups, log-ins or comments.
· We do not ask for or store names, email addresses, dates of birth or any other personal information.
· We do not show advertising and do not sell or share data with advertisers.
· We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel or any third-party marketing trackers.
· We do not use cookies for tracking. The site may, in some games, save your progress to your own browser's local storage on your own device — that data never leaves your device.

Embedded content

Some pages embed external content such as YouTube videos or links to BBC Bitesize, Duolingo, Quizlet, SpanishDict and similar sites. When you watch an embedded video or click an external link, the third-party site may set its own cookies and collect data in line with its own privacy policy. We have no control over those third-party policies. If you'd rather not be tracked by those sites, follow the link or play the video on your own terms.

Cookies

This site does not set tracking cookies of its own. As above, embedded third-party content (e.g. a YouTube video) may set its own cookies once you interact with it. Some games may use your browser's local storage to remember your progress on your own device — this is not a cookie, is not shared with us or anyone else, and you can clear it through your browser at any time.

Children and pupils

The site is intended to be safe for use by children. Because we do not collect personal data, do not require sign-up, and do not allow user-generated content or comments, there is no mechanism by which a pupil could share personal information through the site. Pupils should still use the site in line with Hillside High School's Acceptable Use policy.

Your rights under UK GDPR

Since this site does not collect personally identifiable information, there is generally no personal data we hold about you to access, correct or erase. If you have a question about privacy, or believe something on this site needs to be corrected, please contact the MFL department via the school.

Contact

For privacy questions about this site, contact the MFL department through Hillside High School: hillsidehigh.co.uk. The data controller for any personal data processed by the school itself (not this site) is Hillside High School; refer to the school's own privacy policy for that.
